MEET CONCETTA

My name is Concetta, and I am blessed with a lovely family here in the UK, with two grown-up kids and a husband, and my Italian family, who live there still.

Before becoming an interior designer and home organiser, I was a language teacher here in the UK.

Though these are quite different working fields, I discovered that creativity and planning are crucial factors in both professions. I remember when planning lessons for my teenage students my brain was always active to create new, engaging tasks to help them learn Spanish and Italian.

And that creativity has been my driving force to start my own business in interior design and home organisation years ago. I feel the same when clients ask for space solutions…My brain doesn’t stop creating, it’s exciting!

I also feel lucky to be able to live in two extraordinary countries and take the best of both cultures and surroundings. I believe it helps me be more tolerant, open-minded and confident that things can be done in a different way. I look at spaces, colours, shapes, and materials from different angles. It’s just a matter of perspective!

I also love art, architecture, and craft. Since I was five, my mother and grandmother initiated me with crafts like knitting and crocheting, then sewing and stitching. You had to learn it, it was a must for girls, and I loved it! From my dad, a craftsman, I learned to handle tools to manipulate wood and metal.

I remember fondly, at fourteen, I was thrilled to be allowed to design my new bedroom, to choose the wall colours and how to best use/upcycle pieces of furniture and objects my dad had in his workshop. I still remember the feeling of how jealous my friends were that I could have such a unique space.

In my profession, I feel excited to meet interesting people, to know their stories and their lives. The nature of my job leads me to get to know intimate matters through objects, so it’s not a surprise that many of my clients are my friends now.

Thanks to them I learn a lot about life, the magic moments happen when I see tears of joy in their eyes!

During our lives, we go through planned or accidental changes which mess up our physical and mental flow. A divorce, a job promotion, the birth of a child, upsizing, downsizing, a bereavement, relocating, and poor health lead to huge upheavals; and most of the time we don’t have the time, the support, or the energy to face the ‘havoc’.

Our daily routine and commitments take over us too easily, we feel overwhelmed at the idea of facing the mess building in our homes, and we unwillingly accept a space which we aren’t truly happy with. At times we try to fight between what we really need and what is habitually comforting, for example, shopping and consumerism can be comforting, but is it what we really need?

My services aim at organising your space, challenging your bad habits and helping to adopt positive ones. I will make you aware of what you really need, so you can make space only for the things which will enhance your home and lifestyle.
